Lets hear from Su who has been Mentoring with us for the past few years, genuine words from a genuine gal, thank you Su for the love xx
Before I trained with Training Barn, I….
…. knew I wanted to become proficient at equine portraiture. That is ALL I knew! My research on courses in this genre kept bringing me back to Training Barn. Nothing else quite fitted the bill. Being based 3-4 hours from their studio at the time, I needed to be sure that Emily &Hannah would be able to help me achieve my goal – and accept me! I decided to arrange a phone call with them. At this point, my confidence was on the floor, and I fully expected to be told that I didn’t have the skillset for the course.
That phone call changed my life. Seriously.
Emily was so lovely, approachable and laid all my fears at rest. I was able to tell her of my concerns, was I good enough, did I have the right kit, was I too old (!) I didn’t know much about horses (I just knew I wanted to record their relationship with their owners) was that a problem, etc.
Emily answered all these points and reassured me that TB could definitely help me. The call alone boosted my confidence and let me start to believe that I could – so I did!
I started my big adventure with TB!
The biggest thing I gained was….
Confidence. Confidence in my kit, confidence that I COULD take beautiful Images for my clients, produce slideshows that made them cry with joy at the moments I had captured, moments that they FELT, but had never SEEN. To be able to give that to clients, repeatedly and always was SO rewarding.
Looking back, I’m so glad I….
…. took that first step and made that call. I’m truly blessed to have met Emily and Hannah, and to have them in my circle of love (more about that on the 1-year course!).
I have taken several courses with them since that first wonderful year. Everyone has been packed with valuable, usable content, practical exercises through model shoots, specific masterclasses, such as posing, finding perfect backdrops, whatever the location, camera settings, specific to your own kit, editing, tried and tested formulas for every shoot, the list is endless. I have met wonderful people – my fellow delegates, and I have learned a lot from them too, chatting over a legendary TB lunch. I found that I was also contributing to the chat, as I my bank of knowledge increased!
Because of Training Barn, I now…
…. have all the tools I need, all the course material to refer to, to further strengthen every aspect of my photography and skillset to run a successful business. A business model that stands tall and gives clients a 5-star photoshoot experience and beautiful images they will always treasure.
I have the confidence to evolve my business as needed in an ever-changing marketplace and to keep the products and offerings to my clients fresh, whilst keeping the core of my business dependable and trusted.
My journey with TB has evolved, as alongside my portraiture work, I was surprised to find how much I loved the Horses at liberty and fine art modules of the course, and I am now discovering and practicing all sorts of mixed media applications and discovering many new ways of showcasing my equine ‘at liberty’ work, via a 1:1 course with Emily. The Business and Commercial modules were particularly helpful with this shift. I look back on the 1-year course as a solid foundation for a 5-star equine portrait business, and so much more beyond.
If you’re thinking about training with Hannah and Emily, I’d say ….
…. Email Training Barn, arrange a phone call with Emily and Hannah. Write down your queries and questions beforehand, whatever they may be. (one of the first things you learn is that no question is ‘silly’)
Their training methods are such that the 1-year course is very cost-effective and moves your business forward to such an extent that the incoming financial rewards negate the outlay.
Take that first step to an amazing adventure. Your journey is unique to you, and you share it with a small group of like-minded people who are on their own unique journey.
It’s a truly special year.
