ABOUT THE TRAINING BARN
We’re here to make a real difference to your life.
The Training Barn was started 15 years ago by Emily Hancock. After starting a successful equine photography business Emily was inundated with questions from other photographers about how she had created this success and sustainability, and so the Training Barn was born. in 2017 Hannah Freeland, another successful equine photographer joined Emily and together they help 1000’s of delegates create the business of their dreams. Industry-leading photographers dedicated to helping you master both your craft and your business.
I have been awarded the highest accolade, 2 Fellowships for my fine art equine photography from the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP).
Since being involved in training I have received encouragement and accolades from various clients both professional and amateur with regards to my training courses. I feel proud and privileged to be able to pass on my knowledge and experience to other like-minded creative people.
Emily Hancock
Over the past 25 years I created and developed a successful equine photography business, that was innovative, creative, and stood out from the crowd. I was and continue to be one of the leading equine photographers in the country. My business gave me a very nice lifestyle and allowed me to push my creative boundaries day after day. Over the past 10 years I have been building a career in the art world. Exhibiting at world class art fairs and being represented by renowned agents. I have sold art globally and within famous circles. My art website is www.emilyhancock.co.uk.
Over the years I have invested hugely in creative, personal, and business development and continue to do so. I have been training equine photographers from concept to accreditation for the past 12 years. I continuously drive my businesses to new levels.
And then I decided it was really a great time to take this leap of faith….
I’m Hannah Freeland, an equestrian portrait artist with a lifelong love of horses, light, and the quiet connection between them and their humans.
For more than 18 years, I’ve been creating portraits that go beyond photographs, capturing emotion, storytelling, and the kind of beauty that deserves to be seen every day, not just stored on a screen.
Having grown up with horses since I was three, I understand the bond that riders share with them. That understanding shapes everything I do, from the way I observe movement and light to how I design each shoot. My approach is calm, editorial, and considered. One camera, one lens, and no artificial lights, just presence, instinct, and trust.
Over the years, my work has been featured on magazine covers, in worldwide publications, and in the homes of clients who commission bespoke photography experiences worth between £2,000 and £20,000. I’ve had the privilege of photographing renowned riders such as William Fox-Pitt, Mary and Emily King, and Harry Meade, but the real joy comes from working with people who simply adore their horses and want to celebrate that connection through art.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me exploring the countryside, journaling with coffee in hand, or chasing light wherever it appears, even if it’s just across the kitchen floor.
At The Training Barn, I bring my obsession with creativity and storytelling into the business and marketing side of photography. I’m a font monster and a marketing whizz, always dreaming up new ways to help photographers stand out, communicate their value, and grow with confidence. My role is to help our delegates build a business that feels as beautiful and intentional as the work they create.
Because art and success aren’t opposites. They’re meant to coexist, and I’m here to help prove that.
